A lifetime resident of Fairfield County, J. Colin Campbell left school after the eighth grade to help his father with the family grocery store where he continued to work until he retired. Having no children of his own, he chose to leave the bulk of his estate to a scholarship trust for residents of Fairfield County so that they might have educational opportunities not available to him. The purpose of this fund is to further the higher education of worthy high school graduates, who without such aid, would not be able to pursue their education.
